One-on-One Bible Study at Starbucks

In November 2006 a member of New Life Christian Church expressed a need to work through some issues that had been plaguing her most of her life. She had never been to counseling or participated in a Bible study that addressed her issues. After doing a little research, Pastor Session discovered a Bible-based workbook that was relevant to her situation. Using the workbook as a guide, Pastor Session developed an eight week Bible study outline for her and gave her weekly assignments. Each Saturday, they would come together, pray and discuss how her assignment had impacted her life.

During their studies they also realized the need for therapeutic counseling which fell outside of the pastor’s area of expertise. The member was however willing to attend Christian counseling. New Life Christian Church agreed to subsidize a portion of her counseling sessions as part of our Evangelism and Outreach Ministry.

As a result of the emotional, and spiritual healing she received from these one-on-one studies with Pastor Session, and from her counseling sessions with a Licensed Professional Christian Counselor, both she and Pastor Session realized that others in the congregation could benefit from this type of ministry as well. Thus, One-On-One Bible Studies at Starbucks were born.
