Bible Boot Camp

Bible Boot Camp is a weekly Bible study curriculum. It’s called
Bible Boot Camp because we begin with the basics by laying a solid
foundation for further advanced biblical study, theological
reflection and spiritual development. The course consists of four
phases.
Phase One is How
to Study the Bible #101 and introduces students to the fundamentals
of biblical study and interpretation. We explore the books of the
Bible, differences between the Hebrew Bible and the Christian
Scriptures, and Bible genre (law, history, poetry, etc.).
Phase Two: Issues
and Methods in Interpreting Scripture examines issues, methods, and
problems faced in interpreting Scripture in the church, including
inspiration of Scripture as well as examples of dealing with
potentially difficult passages.
Phase Three:
Introduction to Biblical Exegesis and Hermeneutics emphasizes study
in both the Hebrew Bible and Christian Scriptures and is designed to
explore the biblical text both within its historic contexts as well
as its use in modern worldwide contexts. This phase also examines
the intersection of race, sex, and class in interpreting Scripture.
Phase Four:
Spiritual Formation – Students are engaged in the process of soul
work— which focuses on fostering a gradual and progressive movement
into spiritual depth and personal growth grounded in an intimate and
vibrant relationship with God; and God work—becoming continuously
aware of how God is using and preparing them to be active agents of
the grace of God in the world.
